What happened to the 2020 I had planned?
Have you asked yourself this? I certainly have. Maybe a thousand times since March. What happened? I made plans, I had dreams, I had my calendar stocked with damn-near fabulous milestones I was geared up for.
Look, I launched a business. Literally. Launched. A. Business. March 2020. I had been squirreling away income for over a year, working extra hours and depriving myself of splurging on fun stuff like cute shoes and massages. Less than a week after departing my steady, safe, pensioned job the state of CA shut down.
So, I share your disappointment. Deeply.
I left my job and purposefully shifted because of my vision and aspirations – to have greater freedom and opportunity to do the work I excel at and adore. I had grown weary of the wait. Do you know what I’m talking about?
I wanted to feel fulfillment that springs me out of bed in the morning. An eager excitement about what the day holds.
I was tired of waiting. I was tired of the grind. I wanted to know exuberance in my work.
Are you looking for fulfillment? Success? Purpose?
Do the goals of pursuing an extraordinary life seem best left to 2021? Here’s what a Nobel Prize winner once declared:
“One doesn’t discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time.” -André Gide
We’re on journey, my fellow travelers, and sometimes the land is out of view. To stay the course calls for tenacity, wild-eyed optimism, and a healthy dose of faith.
My desire and aspirations haven’t changed in 2020. Covid be damned! I still want fulfillment and reward. My approach to these plans just required adjustment. Recalibration. Not a raincheck.
I declare: it’s time to dig deep.
We’re facing the last 3 months of 2020. Let’s show this year who’s REALLY in charge!
Pull on the heavy-duty overalls. The kind with a loop for a hammer. I’m going to share tools, guidance and tactics to keep you building toward your dreams. Even on tough days.
Psychology, motivation and behavior: That’s my jam. I spent years studying and pouring over the research. We have internal systems that exist to keep us safe, but can also sabotage our progress. Achievement of our aspirations is about so much more than just goal-setting and discipline. Willpower will only carry you to the door. And on days like these, it may barely get your tush off the couch.
This site is dedicated to shining a bright light on the internal roadblocks, self-sabotage and workplace landmines that can slow you down. There are a myriad of proven, powerful tools and techniques that will help. We’ll share them.
This is the time.
In addition to pain, fear and uncertainty, this year has brought something else to the forefront: perspective.
There’s no better time than today. Tempus fugit. Let’s get to it!
